This vagabond baby carrot strayed from its compatriots which were presumably destined to be part of some salad or dish, and was unearthed months—or perhaps years—later under the stove.

As this carrot dried, it formed an arc shape. Though it has not been definitively determined, museum staff hypothesize that this was originally a small carrot. It does not appear to have been a “baby-cut” carrot, due to a remnant of leaves visible on one end.  NEXT >
